| | City Happenings | Voter registration closes Monday 10/19. Ballots for the November 3 general election started mailing October 5, and you can register online with the California Secretary of State through Monday. Indio has three ballot drop-off spots open weekdays (City Hall at 100 Civic Center Dr, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, plus the Workforce Development Center at 44199 Monroe St and the DRD Indio Community Center at 45871 Clinton St, both 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM), La Quinta has City Hall (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) and Trilogy (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM), and vote centers start opening Saturday 10/24. | Sandbags are out in La Quinta for El Niño season. Empty bags at City Hall on weekdays, and bags with sand at the City Corporate Yard (78106 Frances Hack Lane), Fire Station 70 (54001 Madison St) and Fire Station 93 (44555 Adams St). While you're at it, sign up for Alert LQ on the city's site. | SunLine veterans ride free all of November on Routes 1 through 9 and 14.
